Event staff – FAQs
Q: WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO HIRE STAFF FROM AN EVENT STAFFING AGENCY?
A: Clients generally don’t have time to hire staff or deal with administration of hundreds of applications or interviews. We take the stress out of hiring event staff. Our staff are all selected based on their level of experience as well as enthusiasm, punctuality and professionalism. Whether you require promotional staff, conference staff, exhibition staff, trade show hostesses or catering and hospitality staff … Event Protocol is the perfect event staffing solution.
Q: WHY NOT USE LOW COST TEMPORARY STAFF WITHOUT EVENT EXPERIENCE?
A: Temp staff are very often late, unprofessional, not dressed appropriately which is not needed to professionally promote a brand. Ultimately this will lead to disappointment and stress onsite at an event for the client. Most of our event staff have chosen this type of work as their profession and therefore take each job very seriously!
Q: ARE WE ABLE TO GIVE FEEDBACK AFTER AN EVENT?
A: We value and welcome your feedback. A member of the Event Protocol team will call you after the event and ask for feedback on our staff. This helps us to improve the service we provide.
Q: DO YOU PROVIDE A UNIFORM FOR YOUR EVENT STAFF?
Corporate event staff:
For our corporate event staff we request they wear a black suit unless otherwise instructed by the client. On request, we can provide in-house scarves & ties free of charge to enhance a team and make them easily identifiable if requested by the client.
Promotional staff:
It is usually requested by the client that promotional staff wear branded clothing to tie in with their marketing campaign.
Catering and Hospitality staff:
We request our Catering and Hospitality staff to wear black shirts, black trousers or black dresses, unless otherwise instructed by our client.
Upon request and depending on lead in time we can also source or purchase event outfits at a small fee. We can also store uniforms for our clients in our office if storage is a problem for our clients.
Q: DO YOU CHARGE OVERTIME FOR STAFF WORKING PAST MIDNIGHT
A: No, we do not charge overtime for event staff working past midnight.
Q: DO WE NEED TO BOOK TAXIS FOR STAFF WORKING LATE INTO THE NIGHT?
A: Taxi fares incurred by our event staff for travel after 23.30 will be charged to you. You may prefer to organise taxis if you have a preferred supplier. If not, we can do it for you.
Q: WHAT’S THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF HOURS WE CAN BOOK EVENT STAFF?
A: The minimum booking for our staff is for 4 hours, unless otherwise agreed.
Q: DO WE HAVE TO PROVIDE CATERING TO YOUR STAFF?
A: It is a legal requirement to make sure event staff have access to water and most clients are generous enough to provide food for our staff on shifts of over 4 hours.
Q: ARE STAFF ENTITLED TO BREAKS?
A: All workers are entitled to a break of 20 minutes if required to work continuously for more than six hours. The break should be taken during the six hour period and not at the beginning or end of it.
Q: HOW DO WE PAY OUR EVENT STAFF?
A: Payment is due in full and within 14 days of receiving the invoice before your event/promotional drive.

Q: STAFF – IF YOU ARE A STAFF MEMBER, HOW ARE YOU PAID
A: Pay will always hit your account on or before the 10th of the following month. We employ self employed and limited company event staff. We will also employ event staff on a PAYE basis shortly.
Q: STAFF – IS EVENT PROTOCOL A MODELLING AGENCY?
A: Event Protocol is an event staffing agency, it’s not a “modelling agency” or “event company” or “temp agency”. A “modelling agency” would select models for their look but not for their communication skills, personality or ability to engage an audience. An “event company” would have office staff to organise events and usually no event staff, they would often use an agency such as ours for this purpose. A “temp agency” would usually have only basic staff available picked to perform general labour, warehouse and assembly line tasks. We specialise in providing experienced and confident temporary event staff for corporate, promotional and hospitality events.
A: We work with each client to ensure you receive the very best pay rate possible and it is very rare that miscellaneous expenses such as travel or meals are covered although it depends on the location and every . These details would be clearly presented to you before the start of any event.
